I am a retired professional athlete and dancer. I find joy in playing a small part in athletes' journeys as they fulfill their fitness dreams. I've been competing since 1984, up until I was diagnosed with Lupus SLE and Lupus Nephritis in August of 2013. I ignored the signs until the pain was too much to bear, and those whom I am closest to, insisted I visit the doctor. Lupus causes many complications that are of concern. In my case, I was put on chemotherapy due to CKD (chronic kidney disorder), The chemo lowered my immune system which caused me to be in and out of the hospital. Dealing with the challenges of today sometimes requires different perspectives and those who are willing to take risks. Sheilahe's Way emerged out of a pursuit to inspire and support the community of lupus warriors and survivors, and a desire for actions to speak louder than words. Established in 2017, we’re an organization driven by progressive ideas, bold actions, and a strong foundation of support. Contact us to learn more and get involved.
